Trainwreck lab report
The sharpest split for Trainwreck is geographic: 76% of Washington tests were at or above 20% total THC, compared with 11% in Nevada.1
Key findings
- Washington and Nevada split sharply for Trainwreck: 76% versus 11% of tests were at or above 20% total THC.1
- The published point estimate was low, not high: Leafly's 17% was met or exceeded by 71% of Trainwreck tests.1,2
- In terpene reports, terpinolene led 67% for Trainwreck, and Nevada supplied 92 of 139 such reports.1
- Trainwreck's median THC declined from 20.92% in 2019 to 16.53% in 2024, an overall change of −4.39 points.1
- Trainwreck ranked 34th of 58 tracked strains on menus, with 142 store listings carrying flower in 12 of 27 markets.3
- The central THC spread was 4.75 points, ranking 17th of 52 for narrowness among comparable strains.1
What are Trainwreck's odds of a 20% THC result?
Trainwreck crosses 20% THC in a minority of flower tests: 33% of 248, or about 3 in 10, were at or above 20%, compared with 8.5% at 25% and 0.8% at 30%.1
By state, Washington was high and Nevada low: 76% of 58 Washington tests were at or above 20%, versus 11% of 92 in Nevada; medians were 22.79% and 18.14%.1
The state gap blends local supply, testing labs and rules, so it should not be read as only a Trainwreck plant signal.

Do published THC numbers line up with Trainwreck lab tests?
The one single THC figure did not sit above the lab median for Trainwreck: Leafly lists 17%, below the 18.65% median, and 71% of tests met or exceeded it.1,2
For the two published ranges, lab coverage was uneven: AllBud's 18–25% bracketed 50% of tests, and the 14–18% range from Weedmaps bracketed 35%.1,4,5
A published strain page cannot identify the chemistry of a specific package; use that batch's certificate of analysis.
| Source | Published figure | Tests at or above it | Tests inside the range | Where it sits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weedmaps5 | 14–18% | 94% | 35% | most tests came in above it |

What usually tops Trainwreck's terpene tests?
Trainwreck's terpene lead is strong but not settled: terpinolene was highest in 67% of 139 reports, while limonene accounted for 15% and β-caryophyllene for 11%.1
Leafly also names terpinolene as dominant, and our tests match that claim because terpinolene led 67% of the time.1,2
The terpene sample is tilted toward Nevada: 92 of the 139 terpene reports came from that state.1
| Terpene | Tests where it led | Share of tests |
|---|---|---|
| Terpinolene | 93 | 67% |
| Limonene | 21 | 15% |
| β-caryophyllene | 15 | 11% |
| β-myrcene | 9 | 6.5% |
| β-pinene | 1 | 0.7% |

Which strains match Trainwreck's terpene mix most closely?
Trainwreck has close terpene-profile neighbors: Super Lemon Haze overlaps its typical mix by 89%, followed by Jack Herer at 88% and Durban Poison at 85%, while Tropicana Cherry is the least similar at 40%.1
Those nearest profiles all list terpinolene as their lead, while Tropicana Cherry leads with β-caryophyllene.1
Method: we convert each strain's median values for eight terpenes into shares of that eight-terpene total, then measure how much of the two share profiles overlaps; identical mixes score 100. The comparison pool excludes strains below 30 reports with individual terpene results.1 This is a lab-chemistry comparison only, not a forecast of how Trainwreck will feel.
| Strain | Overlap | Lead terpene (by median) | Tests with terpenes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super Lemon Haze | 89% | Terpinolene | 468 |
| Jack Herer | 88% | Terpinolene | 415 |
| Durban Poison | 85% | Terpinolene | 236 |
| Cherry Diesel | 82% | Terpinolene | 35 |
| Purple Haze | 61% | Limonene | 81 |
| Tropicana Cherry (least similar) | 40% | β-caryophyllene | 61 |

How does Trainwreck's THC compare with other strains?
With a median total THC of 18.65%, Trainwreck placed 47th of 58; the adjacent higher median was Forum Cookies at 18.75%, and the adjacent lower median was Watermelon Z at 18.60%.1
For high-end results, Trainwreck's 8.5% share at 25% or higher ranks 36th, which puts it closer to the middle than its median rank.1
Results under the name are comparatively tight: the central half sits from 16.67% through 21.42%, totaling 4.75 points and ranking 17th of 52 for narrowness among comparable strains.1
| Rank | Strain | Median THC | Middle half | Tests |

Do Trainwreck THC medians shift by testing lab?
The lab spread for Trainwreck was wide among four labs with at least 20 tests: Lab D (Florida) had a 15.30% median, and Lab B (Washington) had 22.63%, leaving 7.33 points between them.1
Because labs test different growers' flower in different state markets, the spread does not prove that any lab reads high. Labs are anonymized on this page: Lab A has the most Trainwreck tests, and the downloadable test file gives the lab names.
| Lab | State | Tests | Median THC | Share at 20% or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lab A | Nevada | 86 | 18.22% | 11% |
| Lab B | Washington | 30 | 22.63% | 73% |
| Lab C | California | 23 | 16.90% | 17% |
| Lab D | Florida | 21 | 15.30% | 19% |

Does higher-THC Trainwreck also carry more terpenes?
For Trainwreck, the high-THC third carried more total terpenes: at or above 18.60% THC, the median was 1.14%, compared with 0.90% for the at-or-below-16.85% third; the terpene-median gap was 0.24 points.1
Nevada is the only qualifying state, and it points the same way: the low-THC side had 0.74% total terpenes and the high-THC side had 1.07%.1
Total terpenes measure aroma compounds by weight, so this chemistry split should not be read as an effects claim.
| Tests from | Tests | Lowest-THC third | Highest-THC third |
|---|---|---|---|
| All states | 140 | 0.90% | 1.14% |
| Nevada | 92 | 0.74% | 1.07% |

Has Trainwreck's THC moved up or down over time?
In years with enough data, Trainwreck's median total THC moved down, not up: 2019 was 20.92% on 38 tests, while 2024 was 16.53% on 23 tests, for −4.39 points overall.1
The same downward direction appears inside Nevada: 2020 posted a 19.04% median, and 2022 posted 17.53%, putting the within-state shift at −1.51 points.1
Years with fewer than 20 tests are left out.
| Year | Tests | Median THC |
|---|---|---|

Where does Trainwreck show up on menus, and at what price?
As of Oct 5, 2026, Weedmaps showed 142 store listings carrying Trainwreck flower within 50 miles of the market centers, spread across 12 of 27 markets; among our tracked strains, that was 34th of 58.3
Exact-eighth medians varied by market: New York, NY priced Trainwreck at $30.09 against a same-menu typical strain at $36.08; Los Angeles, CA was $38.50 against $25.00; Portland, ME was $23.29 against $25.00; and Las Vegas, NV was $25.00 against $26.25.3
Trainwreck was cheaper than the typical other strain on the same menus in three of the four comparable markets, so the price picture was mixed.3
| Market | Trainwreck (priced eighths) | Typical other strain | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York, NY | $30.09 (15) | $36.08 (37 strains) | −$5.99 |

What this data cannot tell you
- From 2015–2024, our file includes flower sold as Trainwreck across 9 states, which cannot verify any one jar; that batch's certificate of analysis is the document to use.1
- The chemistry measurements here do not say how Trainwreck will feel to any reader.
Check the numbers
The downloadable lab file contains the 248 tests used for each lab-based figure, and the same file feeds our THC and terpene summaries.1 Menu figures are Weedmaps-based rather than lab-file measurements.3
For strain-to-strain comparisons, we summarized 58 strains under the same rule set.1 The network-wide report is the side-by-side strain table.
